Congratulations to our Primary and Intermediate Choirs!
We did an amazing job on Wednesday! The Adjudicator, Dr. Catherine Robbins, professor at University of Manitoba, worked with both choirs after singing their two pieces . Our Primary Choir sang the Canadian Folk Song, "Land of the Silver Birch / Canoe Song" and "Purple People Eater," arranged by Alan Billingsley. Dr. Robbins gave us some great compliments on our ability to sing as a group, and worked with the students for 15 minutes on really cool vocal techniques on how to hear themselves better! She gave us the mark of 86% on both songs! The Intermediate Choir performed Jim Papoulis' incredible "There is Peace", followed by "We Are One" from Disney's The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. When Dr. Robbins worked with the grade 4-7 students, she focused on mouth shape and unifying vowels to produce a fuller tone quality. The choir got 89% on their first song and 86% on the second. Come check out the framed certificates in the music room, and have a look at your child's Music Festival ribbon. A HUGE thank you to our incredibly supportive parent volunteers, Janet, Jamie, Elaina, Katherine and Karen!!! They helped corral the students on and off of the bus and throughout the venue as well. Our Heritage kids stayed safe, respectful, and happy! If you see these parents around, please high five them! GREAT job representing Heritage Elementary - our students were DEFINITELY the best behaved of the whole group, and so tremendously respectful! Way to be HAWK students! Finally, keep your eyes open for a Choir Contract coming home with upcoming events on it! We are FULL STEAM AHEAD! Yours musically, Miss Morris |
